Weasley and Sun.....oh, and Unstampabelles

Edit: computer problems this morning courtesy of NBN so late start!

Thought you might like to see what I have to put up with every day now - cuteness overload!
He loves having his chin rubbed and this was angling for someone to give him some attention!

Over at Unstampabelles the current challenge is still running
It is to

#76: February : Anything Goes
as long as it does not involve stamps!

Twist - use something new you have
recently acquired in your stash!

Random Number prize

Die cut of foliage (new)

I altered a box!
It was quick and easy and can be used for a gift of chocolates or candy (lollies) or anything really that will fit into it! The box contained a new kitchen timer - bought by hubby so it looks like it should be on a battleship!

It came with a bellyband so I undid that and took the measurements to create my own

I used some new product from Stampin' Up - from the latest Sale-a-bration uncatalogue
It was a freebie in the sense that I purchased stuff to be given it!
12 big 12 x 12 sheets in four designs - all foiled beautifully

I foiled the word onto it using my new hot foil machine

Some bronze trim from SU and a bit of glitter tape on the top of the box to create a glitzy gift box

Other than adding the tape I didn't do anything to the box itself

The back showcasing the beautiful Designer paper

So - you have two weeks left to enter

Please don't use stamps of any kind!

A photo of Lion Rock down the southern part of the island near Shipstern Bluff taken last week - I have lost the details but it is not my photo - probably on the Tasmania site
I can see Weasley here!

To fold or not to fold

Over at Crafting with Dragonflies, Hilde has asked us to make a card with:

Special Folds

Before I get to my card, I came across this yesterday and had to share it

WOW… swimming in the crystal clear waters at the Bay of Fires thanks to Trip In A Van.

www.instagram.com/tripinavan

Yep, the waters are that clean and clear down here.

On with the show......

When I was in Melbourne at the craft show last year (Paperific) I pick up two packets of Gelli printd paper that had been cut up into usable squares and such plus lots of punched shapes. Each one had adhesive on the back.

I don't have a gelli plate and don't really want one but I do like the effect it gives.

I made my card today using come of the Gel print Stickers
I make a Diamond Fold Card - one of the Quick Cards magazines towards the end of last year had the instructions in their Card School section - look it up

It starts with a 10 x 30 cm card - scored at 5cm intervals ; then score diagonally between top 15cm and bottom 25; and repeat the other way. Repeat this between the 5 and 10 cm marks. Pinch the two halves of the 10 and 20 cm folds backwards to push forward the diamond shape in the front.

I decorated it with the gelli plate sheets and stamped the sentiment with an old SU stamp; I hand drew the circle around the edge. I diecut myself a butterfly and then punched out three small butterflies to use.  It came together quickly and easily

Another angle so you can see the fold

Push together to close and post - it becomes a 10 x 10 cm card

I will finish with a photo of Weasly looking cute

He is growing quickly  - double his weight now from when I got him six weeks ago.

Here is another of him peeking over the edge of the stairs - "Whacha doing?"

Now you can go over to Crafting with Dragonflies and see what the other DT girls have come up with to get some more inspiration!

You have two weeks to enter!

Winners Post from December up over at Unstampabelles

Hello - hope you week has been supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

We went to see a local production of Mary Poppins last week
It was superb.

It's lovely to know that we have the talent here to mount a show like that successfully - it has run with full house for its whole two weeks. Amazing voices.
It was at our lovely old theatre - Theatre Royal

Well - on with the purpose of the blog - the Challenge blog Unstampabelles has a new challenge for February.

#76: February : Anything Goes
as long as it does not involve stamps!

Twist - use something new you have
recently acquired in your stash!

Random Number prize

I was given some chocolates in a neat hand made box so once the choccies were eaten I pulled the box apart to see how I could make it. Basically it was a box without a lid, folded in on itself and tied up - I made two prototypes and managed to get both creased in the wrong way but they worked eventually. You just push the sides in and fold them.

I used SU products and my Hot Foil Machine for the sentiment
I filled it with toffees but I think hubby has been sneaking them out because it is only half full now!

You can see the base has a cross where it should just have a single diagonal line.
I will get better at making them.

Better go to bed now - the kitten is patiently (not) waiting for me to stop working on the computer and go to bed. He has just bought me one of his toys to entice me away.

I will leave you with this lovely photograph.
There have been some great summer storms  lately!

This is the awesome Iron Pot Lighthouse which is located on a teeny craggy little island on the Derwent Estuary. It was the first lighthouse built in Tassie and it's the second oldest to be built in Australia. There is no consensus as to why it was named Iron Pot though one theory suggests that it is because of whalers' pots that were left on the island from the 18th century while another theory reckons it is named after the funny looking pot like holes on the island.

Challenge #76: Anything Goes at Unstampabelles

Except of course, using stamps because they are UNstampaBELLES!

So, you can make anything in the papercrafting line as long as it does not have stamps in it

Welcome back to their first challenge for the new year

#76: February - First for the New Year: Anything Goes
as long as it does not involve stamps!

Twist - use something new you have recently acquired in your stash!

Prize (Random number)
Die cut of foliage (new)

I made firstly a card for this challenge

I wanted to play with my new Hot Foil machine so I did

Silver foil on black looks amazing
I had an art deco foil die so that meant I had to make an art deco style card

The top photo sentiment is also foiled.

The materials used on the card are Debbie Moore Designs and were part of a free booklet that cam with a magazine last year.

There is a bit of decoupage too, and layering/glueing of the backdrop onto card to strengthen it.

Sideways view

To post it will fold flat and fit a big envelope so probably cost $2 to post if sent through mail as the top part takes up extra space over the top of the card. I will probably hand-deliver it.

Did you see the super moon? Wasn't it amazing! Loved the eclipse and the way it changed colour too. I tried to take some photo's but mine were not very good. This is my best one:

I love this one though

WOW… what a great multiple exposure of last night’s blood moon over the Tasman Bridge thanks to Vincent Tsau.

These day's I spend a lot of my time dealing with this small spirit. He can take up a lot of it! He is getting me out of bed very early (6 - 6.30 am) and as a consequence I am going to bed relatively early for me and surprisingly sleeping well most of the time, except when he decides to sleep on my head or across my neck. Waking up to the sound of him purring and the feel of his little paws on my face is kinda sweet even if the clock says it is 3.45 am!

This is Weasley this morning about 9.00 am, trying to get me out of bed to play with him!
He had already been fed!

Crafting with Dragonflies second challenge for 2018.

Hello all

Remember I said in my last post for Crafting with Dragonflies that I had made the background by pressing a second sheet of water colour paper over my first sheet, after using Brusho's on the first?

Well, this card has the original piece of water colour paper where I tried out the new Brusho's from Stampin' Up with some others I already had. I had a lot of water on it so I had to wait for it to dry before using it.

It was our 34th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday so I made this for hubby - he gave me a charity card!We went to lunch at a fancy restaurant though so he made up for it! The theme for the challenge is:

Romantic or Valentine Card

I used the same SU stamp set Sure Do Love You but the heart is a die from Apple Blossom.

Different effects in different lights

This die comes from the set that goes with the stamps
I stamped it in Versamark and embossed with a glittery red EP so it sparkles

The heart was cut from gold card.

What will you do for your Romantic Card or Valentines Card?

You can enter it at Crafting with Dragonflies for the next two weeks.

Off and Running with Eclectic Ellapu

Hello Peeps - hope you are all fit and well and managing all this climate change!

It really has been a little mad this season.

On the weekend we had over 32 degrees (36 one day) and only dropping to low 20's at night and today is it max 14 and I have the heater on! I did sleep well last night though - got to 9! Even the kitten was willing to settle down and sleep! Apparently it is snowing in the highlands this morning.

Hot days and nights makes you want to head to the beach for a swim. Unfortunately haven't had one this year yet, despite the weather - just not the opportunity.

This is my childhood beach - Marion Bay. The land on the right and in the background is the bottom end of Maria Island. It was obviously a bit breezy the day this was taken. When I saw this on FB it bought back so many happy memories for me I had to share it. Our farm looked down over this beach and Hellfire Bluff (Cape Bernier) with Mercury Passage between it and the island.

Marion Bay beach and it’s fantastic view of Cape Bernier. Named after the astronomer on Baudins 1802 expedition and featured on his early maps of the area it is also known to early settlers as Hellfire Bluff referring to the red coloured cliffs

On to what is happening at Eclectic Ellapu:

To start the year off we are going with the traditional

'Anything Goes'

Remember, that means anything to do with paper - off the page, mixed media, journals, scrap pages, cards, tags - whatever.

I made several boxes to house some cards I made with a Colour Me Happy kit I purchased from Stampin' Up last year when the new alcohol pens came out. The kit was excellent and made up 16 cards  (4 x 4) of varying sizes and with various sayings; the cards were pre-cut; and all embellishments provided. There was also an instruction sheet provided. Each card also had an envelope. They are coloured using the new markers.

I made them up with the full intention of giving them away and just ran out of oomph to prepare them -  when cleaning up the Christmas mess last week I found them again and decided to make some  boxes. Each box has a selection of the four styles. The fourth set has a bellyband but was not ready for the photographs! I used some old SU DP (out of stock now) that I had in my stash and some old ribbon.

The sentiment is a foil die and I used my new foiling machine and some luscious pink foil to add this to card and on one occasion, a paper doily.

The base card is SU - each set has a plain base.

I just used my SU craft board to make the necessary folds and they quickly came together.

So, used up some stash - used my new foiler - cleaned up some space - and made some gifts!

Let's see what you have made lately
See you over at Eclectic Ellapu!
